Waterline Square Park

Waterline Square Park is a public space park surrounded by residential housing blocks built by the architects Lab D+H finishing completion in 2022. Although the space is not aesthetically appealing it is still available to residents. This space was designed to become an inviting space to engage the public area for community use and gathering. The overall design strives to activate the site into an enjoyable space by introducing water by using a significant amount of water features that shifts the site for residents.

Before designing Waterline Square Park, the designers faced a challenge of revitalizing an area that was once forgotten into space that enhances community engagement. Even though the space is a large green space encompassed by residential blocks, this space was not reserved specifically for residential community engagement. This neglected site was also encompassed by narrow steep slopes and harsh terrain that made the land undesirable for practical uses.

The most intriguing part about the park is the activity space. Throughout the site a main water system is located that offers stopping points throughout the site for people to rest and wander. Each stopping point creates a unique experience for the community to engage with each other. Overall, Waterline Square Park creates a community engagement pub for residents living in the area and other people who want to experience a community filled environment.

Community planning often thinks about the big picture rather than small elements that create engagement among residents.
